WEEKEND WARM-UP: McLaren look the team to beat but Verstappen aims to keep winning run going in Spain
The final part of the European triple-header is here, with Barcelona playing host to the F1 teams and drivers ahead of the ninth race weekend of the season. But will McLaren prevail here, or can Red Bull bounce back?
That is the question on everyone’s lips, with Max Verstappen chasing a fourth straight win at this track. By contrast, McLaren have not won here since 2005 – but that could change this weekend, with Lando Norris full of confidence following his Monaco triumph.
Oscar Piastri cannot be discounted, though, the championship leader looking to bounce back from the blip that was Monaco. As to where Mercedes and Ferrari will end up in the pecking order, that remains to be seen.
And in addition to the fight at the front, Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso will be chasing strong results on home soil, while there are also plenty of upgrades to keep an eye on up and down the pit lane.
