WATCH: Sainz suffers heavy crash in final practice for the Dutch Grand Prix
Carlos Sainz finished a superb second quickest in FP2 on Friday afternoon, but his progress in final practice for the Dutch Grand Prix was abruptly halted when he crashed heavily.
Midway through the session the Spaniard lost control of his Ferrari at Zandvoort's Turn 3 and hit the barriers in a big impact, as the red flags were thrown.
Sainz climbed out shortly afterwards and was unhurt, but it does mean he will get no further running in FP3 – and will be hoping his car is not too badly damaged and that his crew will be able to repair it in time for qualifying in just a few hours.
