Lando Norris claimed the sixth pole position of his career in breathtaking fashion around the streets of Singapore, getting the better of his season-long rival Max Verstappen.
The McLaren driver had already demonstrated his confidence at the tricky track in the earlier practice sessions, but went even further to set a rapid time of 1m 29.525s in the final part of qualifying.

After Carlos Sainz’s crash halted the session, the fastest drivers of the evening all found themselves under pressure to perform in a one-lap shootout. Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton put together strong laps to complete the top three behind Norris, the man to beat.
