Carlos Sainz delivered a sensational performance during qualifying for the Mexico City Grand Prix, with the Ferrari driver storming his way to pole position at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Sitting on provisional pole, Sainz produced a 1m 15.946s on his final lap to finish two-tenths ahead of Max Verstappen, who recovered from a deleted time, while Lando Norris completed the top three positions.
It means the Spaniard will be starting from the front of the grid for the sixth time in his F1 career, and gives him a golden opportunity to add a fourth race victory to his CV during Sunday’s Grand Prix.
