Twelve months on from his pole position on Zandvoort’s return to the calendar for the first time since 1985, Max Verstappen once again took P1 on the grid for the Dutch Grand Prix after a thrilling lap of his home track.
With title rival Charles Leclerc having taken provisional pole in the first runs in Q3, Verstappen struck back on his final attempt, clocking a 1m 10.342s to claim pole by 0.021s – while Verstappen’s team mate Sergio Perez spinning at the final corner affected the laps of George Russell, Yuki Tsunoda and Lewis Hamilton.
