Matt Youson takes a look at the different pit stop and tyre options that are available to the teams on race day at Silverstone.
There was a burble of excitement around the Silverstone paddock on Saturday afternoon before Qualifying. There wasn’t an obvious candidate for pole position, and that always sets tongues wagging.
In the final analysis it was Championship leader and Sprint winner Kimi Antonelli who took pole, with Charles Leclerc alongside. Two less-likely pantomime villains you’ll never meet, but there was certainly a sense of deflation in a partisan crowd to see both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell relegated to the second row.
