The last Sprint weekend of the year threw up crashes, clashes and overtakes galore – but while there was joy for race-winner Max Verstappen, there was plenty of misery elsewhere. All the emotions were played out over team radio, with plenty of drivers turning the airwaves blue…
Traffic chaos in qualifying caused frustration for some, and then weather intervened in Q3 in a big way – leading Charles Leclerc and Verstappen to marvel at conditions they’d never previously experienced.
The Shootout saw joy for Lando Norris, but that turned to resignation when he was pipped off the line by Verstappen in the Sprint. As for the Grand Prix, there was bad luck for Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo, plenty of motivational talks for Fernando Alonso, while George Russell repeatedly questioned his team’s strategy.
