Pole-sitter Carlos Sainz made a brilliant getaway to keep ahead of Max Verstappen at the start of the Italian Grand Prix. This was after the start was delayed due to Yuki Tsunoda stopping on track during the formation lap with an engine issue.
Sainz made a strong getaway from the line to stay ahead of the Dutch driver as he fended off Verstappen’s efforts to make a move past him at Turn 1. Charles Leclerc survived an attack from George Russell to remain third as the drivers made it through the opening lap without any issues.
