The drivers’ championship battle took another twist in qualifying for the Mexico City Grand Prix as Max Verstappen got himself ahead of Lando Norris – but it is Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz who will start in front of both of them in pole position.
One week on from their impressive one-two result in Austin, the Scuderia again hinted at their promise at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez as Sainz claimed a sensational pole, putting him in the best position to claim another victory for the team.
However, title rivals Verstappen and Norris are just behind in second and third respectively, and both will undoubtedly be keen to add to their points tally with just five races remaining in the 2024 season.
