PADDOCK PASS: All the reaction from the drivers after a fast and furious Sakhir GP qualifying
53.377s will go down in the history books as the shortest pole time ever witnessed in the 70 years of Formula 1, with Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas taking that honour in qualifying for the Sakhir Grand Prix.
That was impressive – but perhaps just as impressive was the job Bottas’ stand-in team mate George Russell did to finish just 0.026s behind the Finn around Bahrain’s 3.5km Outer Track, as the Williams regular – replacing the Covid-sidelined Lewis Hamilton for this week’s action – ending up 0.030s clear of third-placed Max Verstappen.
