HINCHCLIFFE: The moment when I knew Formula 1 had truly become part of the North American zeitgeist


There are few things I love talking about more than motorsports. So I tend to get excited when, on a Monday or Tuesday after a race, someone opens up a conversation with, “how about that race on Sunday?!”.
Now admittedly, as I’m North-American based, for the longest time I was left to decide if they were talking about the IndyCar race or the NASCAR race – as they are the two most prominent series on the continent.
