Max Verstappen was the fastest man in qualifying on Saturday afternoon at Spa-Francorchamps, but it will be Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz who start on pole tomorrow, giving the championship leaders' penalties.
Verstappen set a time of 1m 43.665s on his lone lap in Q3, 0.632s faster than Sainz in second. Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull was third fastest, 0.797s off his team mate's time, ahead of Charles Leclerc in fourth.
It was a good day for Alpine, with Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso in fifth and sixth, ahead of the Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton in seventh and eighth. It was a great day for Alex Albon, who will start sixth tomorrow, after qualifying ninth.
