Hamilton back on track for Ferrari as part of Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona

Lewis Hamilton completed his latest outing at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car on Tuesday when he took part in Pirelli tyre testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Ferrari’s new signing – who was also in action at the Spanish Grand Prix venue last week – shared a modified 2024-specification SF-24 with team mate Charles Leclerc, while McLaren’s Lando Norris ran an adapted MCL60 from 2023.
Pirelli’s programme centred around the development of their slick tyres, with various combinations of construction and compound being tested – specifically the C1 to the C3, which are suited to the circuit’s demands.
Precisely 332 laps were completed over the course of the day: Norris racking up 159 en route to a best time of 1m 15.21s; Hamilton following on 87 laps and a best lap of 1m 15.93s; and Leclerc posting 86 with a best of 1m 16.06s.
Testing in Barcelona will continue on Wednesday, when Oscar Piastri takes over from Norris at McLaren, while Leclerc and Hamilton again split running in the Ferrari – the former in the morning and the latter in the afternoon.
