Hadjar to make racing return with Red Bull at Azerbaijan GP

Isack Hadjar will return to action for Red Bull Racing at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, having successfully recovered from a wrist injury.

Hadjar sustained the injury while training over the summer and was forced to miss races at Zandvoort, Monza and the all-new Madring as a result.

However, following his period of rehabilitation, he has been declared fit to slot back in alongside Max Verstappen from the Baku weekend.

It also means that Liam Lawson will head back to Racing Bulls after standing in for Hadjar at Red Bull, while Yuki Tsunoda returns to reserve duties.

“Oracle Red Bull Racing is delighted to welcome Isack back this weekend,” read a statement issued by Red Bull on Tuesday.

“Having made a successful recovery from his wrist injury, Isack will return to action at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday.

“The team would like to sincerely thank Liam for his professionalism, dedication and hard work over the past three races.

“Stepping in under challenging circumstances, he delivered some impressive performances and made a valuable contribution to the team.

“We wish him all the best as he returns to Visa Cash App Racing Bulls.”

As Red Bull’s statement alluded to, the Azerbaijan weekend will kick off earlier in order to avoid a clash with the country’s Remembrance Day on September 27 – Free Practice taking place on Thursday, followed by Qualifying on Friday and the Grand Prix on Saturday.
