It was a tense and action-packed affair in Austin that saw Max Verstappen take the victory in both the Sprint and the race. But it was not as straightforward as it seemed – and to reflect on it all is our F1 Nation crew.
On this week’s episode, Tom Clarkson is joined by Damon Hill and Tim Mayer, the Chairman of the FIA stewards, as they discuss an eventful race where Verstappen claimed the 50th win of his F1 career, having seen off the challenge of a charging Lewis Hamilton.
EXPLAINED: Why Hamilton and Leclerc were disqualified from the United States GP
Hamilton was subsequently disqualified from the race, along with Charles Leclerc, after the planks on their cars were found not to have been in compliance with the rules, and the crew look at how this could have happened.
One of those drivers to gain from the pair’s disqualification was Alex Albon, who finished 11th before moving up to ninth, and he stops by the podcast to have a chat about his and Williams’ Austin weekend.
Also speaking to the gang is Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner, who reflects on his team’s home race, and gives his verdict on whether the upgrades brought to the VF-23 worked as they would have hoped.
Lastly, we hear from the inaugural F1 Academy champion Marta Garcia, as she discusses her title victory in Austin, her year in the new all-female category, and her plans for the future.
