F1 ACADEMY: Weug outduels title rival Pin to take pole in dramatic Singapore Qualifying
F1 ACADEMY fans were kept on the edge of their seats during Qualifying in Singapore on Friday.

Maya Weug earned a crucial second consecutive pole position in Singapore, beating F1 ACADEMY title rival Doriane Pin to the fastest time under the floodlights around the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
In the fight for pole throughout the 30-minute session, the Ferrari-backed driver posted a 2m 03.453s and held on in a nerve-wracking final phase.
After getting caught up in traffic, Pin narrowly made it to the line before the chequered flag, but her final attempt was only good enough to beat Chloe Chambers to second – 0.042s off pole.
Red Bull Racing’s Alisha Palmowski discovered early on how brutal the track can be, hitting the wall at Turn 5 and bringing out the red flags in the opening 10 minutes.
Ella Lloyd had a near-miss of her own at the same spot but managed to come through for fourth. Wild Card driver Lisa Billard put together an impressive performance on debut with fifth, followed by Kick Sauber’s Emma Felbermayr and PUMA’s Aurelia Nobels.
Block secured eighth and the all-important reverse grid pole for Race 1, ahead of Alba Larsen and Chloe Chong. The lights go out for Race 1 at 1500 local time on Saturday.
Before that happens, you can read an in-depth report of the F1 ACADEMY Qualifying session in Singapore and various driver reactions on the official championship website.
