Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya complete remodelling of Turn 10

Spain’s Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is set for a new look in 2021, with work now complete on the track’s Turn 10 corner, just in time for the return to Formula 1 of the country’s two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

The changes will see the acute angle of the Grand Prix Circuit’s Turn 10 – raced at in that configuration since 2004 – eschewed in favour of a more gently arcing left-hander that’s similar to the corner layout from when F1 first visited the circuit in 1991.

The alterations also have the added benefit of providing more run-off area at the corner, thus improving safety for the racers.

Meanwhile, with pre-season testing heading to Bahrain in 2021, rather than the Spanish track where testing has been hosted for the previous few seasons, the drivers are set to get their first taste of the rebooted Turn 10 at the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix, due to take place on May 7-9.
