BEYOND THE GRID: Sainz on his Ferrari journey, losing his seat to Hamilton and preparing for the next chapter at Williams

Carlos Sainz has had a turbulent 2024. It started with a shock – losing his seat to Lewis Hamilton – and will end with him departing Ferrari and preparing for a move to Williams.
On this episode of Beyond The Grid – presented by Explora Journeys – the Spaniard looks back on his last year that began with him finding out he was being replaced by the seven-time world champion.
He then missed the Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia with appendicitis, before bouncing back in the next round to win in Australia. But while the year has brought multiple wins and podiums to look back on, an exciting new challenge awaits with Williams next season.
Speaking to host Tom Clarkson, Sainz talks about his feelings after finding out Hamilton was taking his seat, the pain he suffered after his operation and how he came back from those physical and emotional setbacks to take his victories in Australia and Mexico, and secure his future in Formula 1.
As well as reflecting on a special four years with Ferrari, Sainz is also relishing the next chapter. What can he achieve with Williams? How does he rate new teammate Alex Albon? And will he cope with not fighting at the front of the grid?
