RACE HIGHLIGHTS: Watch all the key moments from Verstappen's Monaco GP win
There was heartbreak for home town favourite Charles Leclerc before the Monaco Grand Prix even began on Sunday, as the polesitter was forced to pull out of the race after being hit with a mechanical issue on his way to the grid.
The Monegasque was distraught, but it meant Max Verstappen effectively started from pole - and he used top spot on the grid to great effect, driving to a first ever Monaco victory to take the lead of the drivers' championship in the process.
Behind him there was a pit stop disaster for Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas who had to retire from second place after his right front wheel refused to come off his car, when the wheel nut became machined to the axle itself.
Bottas' team mate Lewis Hamilton had his worst race of the year, coming home a disgruntled seventh place, as Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and McLaren's Lando Norris completed the podium.
Hit play on the video above to see all the key moments from a race that was full of drama before the lights even went out.
