It will be an all-McLaren front row for Saturday’s Qatar Sprint as Oscar Piastri narrowly beat out his team mate, Lando Norris, for pole position in a tense Lusail affair.
On his final lap in SQ3, Piastri set a time of 1m 24.454s to beat out Norris by just 0.082s. Norris was coming across the line after Piastri, but ran wide at the final corner, ending his hopes of a P1 start.

Max Verstappen had earlier been fastest but had his first time deleted, although his final lap was only good enough for third. George Russell was fourth for Mercedes, followed by the Ferrari pair of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
Lewis Hamilton suffered a shock SQ2 exit and will start the Sprint from 12th on the grid. The Briton was one of a number of drivers who struggled with track limits in a session that featured a number of deleted lap times.
