HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the action as Sergio Perez wins a dramatic Sprint on the streets of Baku
The Azerbaijan Sprint was a bite-size piece of drama in which all 20 drivers dashed to the line over 17 frantic laps at Baku. And it was Sergio Perez who emerged on top.
Charles Leclerc took Sprint pole in Saturday's shootout having aced Friday's qualifying for the Grand Prix pole, and the Monegasque led Sergio Perez away from the start of the Sprint.
That start saw George Russell barge past Max Verstappen for P3 in a brilliant battle before Yuki Tsunoda hit the wall and lost a tyre, which led to a Virtual Safety Car and a full Safety Car for the clean-up. The resulting restart saw more brave, nailbiting action with the drivers jostling for supremacy; Verstappen made a stunning move to retake the place from Russell.
There was much more to come as Perez made a sublime move on Leclerc and took eight points to narrow the championship battle.
And there is much more to come with the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday – in which Leclerc will lead the Red Bulls off the line. Until then, catch the highlights in the video player above.
